Basketball Season

Basketball Season
BasketballThis basketball season has been very different compared to past seasons due to Covid. Nonetheless, both boys and girls have had some impressive accomplishments this year. The girls varsity basketball team has a record of 15-1 and are currently undefeated in the league. The boys basketball team is currently 6-5 but have had a less fortunate time being able to play all of their games due to several cancellations.

While it made it hard to find a sense of normality during the pandemic, it has not stopped senior, Bella Kline, from enjoying this season with her fellow teammates. She stated her favorite memory was riding the charter bus to Notre Dame. Kline is also making sure to go out with a bang this season after breaking the all-time scoring record at Berne Union with 1,485 points. The lady rockets have also had 4 players this season be named Athlete of the Week in the Lancaster Eagle Gazette including: Emily Blevins, Abbi Evans, Sophia Kline and Bella Kline.

The boys basketball team has unfortunately not been able to get as many games in due to Covid cancellations. However, they have still had many successes despite these complications. Senior, Brock Unger, was able to score his 1,000th career point in a 51-46 win over Bishop Rosecrans. When asked what this accomplishment meant to him Unger responded, “It meant a lot.” He also shared that he was most looking forward to winning games the remainder of the season.

We wish the best of luck to both the girls and boys as they continue their seasons and move forward to tournaments.
